RVA // hand-painted mugs

first off lemme just say that i try to do a good thing and get my mugs secondhand... two for $3. then i take em home and my boyfriend tells me that he got these exact same mugs at ikea for like 50 cents each... go figure! learned my lesson. just kidding.

anyways, the mug on the left is just a little montage of cute lil faces looking in different directions (in case my sloppy pen paint job got in the way) and the mug on the right was inspired by the strawberry from 'across the universe'... such a great movie! such a great strawberry.

RVA // owl project ~ twin minis

for some reason i thought it would be easier to hand sew two mini owls for the RVA craft class project instead of one regular sized one... i was wrong. so much fun though. it was still hard. haha but super cute. now i can keep one and give the other to someone else. and in some way, connecting two people over a large distance.

sometimes, you just need to be told what to do. i made a two-sided pillow for the RVA craft class (hand sewn! requires much patience)... one side tells me to CREATE (hand embroidered) and the other side tells me to be CALM (embroidered felt).

here is a necklace i made out of 2 different necklaces and some charms. i don't know if i will wear it cuz these types of necklaces actually get pretty tangled up really easily... and then just end up looking like a mess across your chest... no woman wants that!. but maybe i'll give this cutie a chance. maybe.

thanks to this craft class project from the girls over at red velvet art, i now have a place to store my completed "crafty goodness" from the class... and any others things i decide to make on my own accord. i went with a strawberry theme and decoupaged the side panels with cutouts of strawberries and put a red bow on the cover. the inside is separated so that small goodies... like bows, jewelry, etc... can be separated from the larger projects. still strawberry-esque, of course!

class just started so the box is pretty empty. but not for long, i'm sure.

takin' years off a face

a client asked me to make the dude look younger... so i did (look closely). i enjoy doing this stuff... heavily!!! i wanna do this all day every day.

now i can't give away too much of this craft project from these girls cuz some lucky person is going to open this up on christmas morning... but here is a little sampler of what i made today.

i'm just glad to finally be doing art with my hands!
